Playset Arrrives
I got up early so I could relax in the shower for a bit before the appearance of children. I keep telling myself that some day they’ll be able to take care of themselves in the mornings and my sleep schedule can become more sane. Not sure I really believe this, though. It was another fun day of landscaping outside. The gravel for the play area is in, another patch of gravel has been put down around the heat pumps (to cut down on unmowable weeds out there), and we had a discussion about replacing some of the shrubbery with the right color plants. All going well, though there’s plenty more to do.
A giant UPS freight truck showed up at midday with the pieces for the kids’ new playset. Fortunately there were several landscapers around that I could shanghai into helping me unload 800 pounds of boxes. Now I just need to put it together. The instructions claim that can be done in 8 hours, a claim which strikes me as uproariously optimistic after reading them.
I did some coding today, and a lot of work with SQL and text editors getting a client site ready to relaunch. I also had a nice chat with another client who wants lots more hours going forward, so that’s good.
For dinner, I made marinated flank steak skewers, white asparagus, and noodles with cheese, along with salad. I thought it turned out well all around.
Kids were acting up late, so they got to have bedtime a few minutes early. Fortunately Lindsey fell asleep in my lap after I’d gotten the others to bed, so it wasn’t a terribly late night for me.
