Mike's Journal

Things got rolling around 7AM when Kayla got up and turned 5 years old. We started the day with a pile of presents. All the kids were very excited about this, and fortunately Kayla was not too fussy about the amount of help she got opening things….

I was up at 5:45, which proved to be just before Thomas exploded from his room. After the usual morning of kids and reading and writing stuff on the web, this was mostly a work day for me….

Adam was awake far too early, getting me up before 5AM. Combined with the fact that this was a fasting morning for me, this made me a bit grumpy. After getting him some breakfast, I relaxed in the tub for a bit before getting on with the morning web updates….

I just had time to get breakfast into a variety of children this morning when it was time for a call to a client in the UK. Of course, since our little tiny telco still doesn’t understand international direct dialing I ended up being a few minutes late for the call, but we had a productive chat nonetheless….

Lindsey and Thomas both got up at 6:30, starting my day off with a flurry of small children….

We had a fairly busy weekend out here, despite my continued inability to keep this journal up to date….

I slept until 6:30 this morning. Everyone else slept late, even Thomas, who didn’t get up until about 7:30. Must have been some rare planetary alignment….

I was up around 5:30. Lindsey actually wasn’t up that early, though she was restless; she ended up sleeping for 13 hours. She doesn’t appear to be sick. Maybe she just needed to store up some energy to keep up with the siblings….

Lindsey kicked me awake about 5AM and it was pretty much downhill from there….

I was planning my annual assault on the thistles today, but after I got the sprayer filled with herbicide and pumped up the pressure I felt something snap inside — the diaphragm probably – and it would no longer spray. So that job gets put off for another day or two….
