It was off to town again this morning, for another round of pre-moving errands. This time we made stops to drop off yet more paperwork at our realtor (finally clearing the last minor contingency) and to pick up boxes for a few large items. Then it was off to Ford to pick up the RV again, with its fuel filler hose repaired….
MoreLife seems to be turning into an endless stream of pre-moving errands and checklists. There are times I wonder how less-organized people ever manage to move at all. Perhaps they don’t, or perhaps we’re just overly-structured about the whole thing….
MoreMoving prep continues apace. We actually did half a day of schoolwork today (partly in hope of giving the kids something to do, now that their toys are mostly packed); fortunately, everyone got back into it easily enough. Even Thomas remembered most of the phonics he’d gotten to so far….
MoreYes, I’m still alive. It’s just that my days at the moment are full of writing my regular web content, writing code, packing, and not a whole lot else….
MoreWe appear to be having a de facto school vacation this month. With errands taking one adult or another out of the house at least three days this week, we’ve announced another no-school week. The kids are not heartbroken….
MoreAfter our regular morning of feeding kids and posting web updates, we loaded the family into the car and headed out of here. Actually, we loaded into two cars – Adam came with me in the pickup truck, and everyone else went in the minivan….

He’s up to recognizing half a dozen letters/sounds and on the verge of making the leap to stringing them together into words, so it’s worth keeping the momentum going. Besides, he still wants to do it….
More48 today, imagine that….
MoreWe had another no-school day today due to “too much hectic”. One of the great things about homeschooling is that we can set our own schedule. Since we do year-round school, I don’t mind that things are going to be spotty for the kids for the next month or so (and they certainly don’t mind) – moving itself will be educational. I did take the time to sit down with Thomas and do some more phonics drill, though….
MoreThere were a great many phone calls involved in my morning, including lining up septic tank pumping, well flow test and water quality test, chatting with lawyers about moving our company to Indiana, setting up mail forwarding, getting moving estimates, and starting the discussion on moving our T1 line, among others. Though there is still a last little bit of negotiation to do on the sale of our house, we are moving forward on the assumption that this is the one….
