Baseball (Wednesday, June 9, 2010)

We had some homeschool fun this morning playing with glowsticks. I dissected one so we could watch the liquids mix together, and then we played with hot and cold water to speed up and slow down the chemical reactions. We also did our usual round of book learning, but I expect the science playtime is what the kids will remember.

More Phone Time (Tuesday, June 8, 2010)

Today started out with a bunch of early morning work upgrading one of our servers to new software versions. Fortunately it went smoothly. By the time I was done with that, kids were waking up and I juggled bug fixes for a couple of clients with making breakfasts and getting schoolwork underway.

Uniforms (Monday, June 7, 2010)

Lindsey got me out of bed a bit after 4 this morning, and then went back to bed for another hour herself. As long as I was up, I figured I might as well write code, and worked on our local pack web site for a bit.

Coding (Sunday, June 6, 2010)

Today was pretty much all about writing code for me….

Training (Saturday, June 5, 2010)

Got up this morning, dealt with a few emails, then packed myself a lunch and got out the door. Most of today was taken up for me by Cub Scout leader training. Now I am, at least in theory, a fully-trained Tiger Cub leader, ready to start imparting values to six-year-olds.

Endodontist (Friday, June 4, 2010)

Today started out with a visit to the endodontist, bright at early at 7:45 AM. The point of this was to get the root canal done on that tooth that I’d had a temporary crown put on recently. This was accomplished, though the process of numbing everything up took forever; he finally had to resort to drilling holes in the gum to inject anesthetic straight on the roots, which was decidedly no fun. Otherwise it was a fairly uneventful procedure, and I watched mindless TV for distraction while it was underway.

Crash! (Thursday, June 3, 2010)

I started off my day today by deploying the new web site for our Cub Scout pack. It’s not a lot (yet) but it’s a whole lot better than we had before. That was a nice little accomplishment to start things off. Then I dropped Kayla at her Girl Scout day camp and did the grocery shopping.

Bothersome Teeth (Wednesday, June 2, 2010)

I was up earlier than usual this morning; dental pain and sleep aren’t 100% compatible. I’m not exactly looking forward to the root canal later this week, but the relief from pain will be nice.

Telephone (Tuesday, June 1, 2010)

The theme for the day was “telephone” – I had a headset of one sort or another on for hours, between team meetings, client calls, and individual dev calls. The Tuesday after a holiday weekend is always brutal, and this was no exception.

Memorial Day (Monday, May 31, 2010)

We took the day off of school for the holiday, and I chatted with the kids a little bit about why we have Memorial Day. Then it was off to work for me; in theory, this should have been a quiet day prepping for the rest of the week, but in practice it was a busy one, peppered with client and dev phone calls.
