Birthday Boy with Rash
It’s back to school week, but we had no classes today thanks to our family tradition of treating birthdays as holidays. Thomas turned six today, and everyone appreciated the break.
Mid-morning, though, he and I went over to our doctor’s office to consult about a rash that had appeared on his face over the weekend. We ended up seeing one of our doctor’s partners and I was not hugely impressed. The non-diagnosis was “itchy bumps” and she prescribed a steroid shot to cut down the itching – and, I think, to assure the parent that the Medical Profession was Doing Something. But Thomas tolerated it well, enjoyed his outing, and he and I picked up a few groceries on the way home.
The rest of the day was hardcore project management for me, with about an hour of writing code thrown in around the edges. Eventually I broke to make dinner: hamburgers, couscous, and mixed fruit, that being what the birthday boy wanted.
Thomas was looking much improved by bedtime, so whatever it was seems safely behind us.
