Suburban Life
It was a fairly quiet morning, all in all. I pointed Adam and Kayla towards a few classes to work on, and then took Thomas and Lindsey out to their sports program at the Y. Today’s sport was football, and the sight of a dozen 3 to 5 year olds running around and attempting to kick footballs is one of the more amusing things I’ve seen lately.
After football was over, we went off to do the grocery shopping for the week. On the way over we did some math and spelling work in the truck. Gotta love homeschooling – much of it is utterly portable at this age. We were home for lunch, and I gulped some sushi and a beer and then hopped on a conference call with a client. That was an hour of planning and they seemed happy when it was over.
The afternoon was spent mostly in coding, though I also managed to do a little more weeding in the front garden, and helped Adam assemble the wheels to his pinewood derby racer. In the evening, Dana dropped Adam off for his Webelos meeting on her way to karate, and I fed the other three turkey and gravy with rice and corn. Then we all piled into the truck to go pick Adam up; he’s definitely doing better in scouts now, and seemed quite happy at the end of the meeting.
Worked along on coding issues till around 10:30 and then headed up to bed. I had to break up a small party as Thomas had wandered over to Kayla’s room to play, but was in bed and asleep not too much later.
