Snow candy

We had about four inches of snow overnight. As a result, the kids and I had some fun during school (along with our regular schoolwork): we made maple sugar snow candy (boil maple syrup to soft ball, pour over packed snow). They thought this was both enjoyable and tasty.

After school, it was on to work. Much of my day was spent sorting out the tests for the big codebase I merged over the weekend. I finally got it done, but it was a larger job than I expected and consequently I’m feeling behind on other things. Three or four phone calls interrupting my afternoon didn’t help either. But we’ll get through somehow.

When I finally broke for dinner, I made stir-fried chicken and broccoli with rice, which all the kids thought was just fine. We’re winding down the last couple of chapters of Rinkitink in Oz, with the obligatory happy ending, now, and looking forward to the next book.
