Long Day
‘Twas a long day, starting at 3AM or so when Lindsey couldn’t sleep and got me out of bed. I got her some breakfast and turned on the TV – fortunately cartoons are largely a 24-hour effort these days – and then propped my eyes open and got to work. Wrote a bunch of code and answered some email before sunrise, so at least it was a productive early morning.
Eventually everyone else was awake and fed and we headed out the door. Dana took the girls off to pick up a truck full of Girl Scout cookies, and I took the boys and went to Thomas’s sports clinic at the Y. Adam and I worked on this basketball skills a bit while we were there. Then the three of us descended on Schnuck’s and did the grocery shopping for the week.
Back home, there was the inevitable playing catchup with email and emergencies, but eventually I got settled back into working hours. Still making good progress on code for the most part, still overloaded for the short term.
Dinner was Lunchables for the kids, by their popular request. I had a salad and some rice and beans. Dana was off to karate, which is why we were having kid-request meal in the first place. Got everyone fed, cleaned up, and to bed, and then I stayed up until Dana got home. It was midnight by the time we both crashed, thoroughly exhausted.
