Bad Night
It was another rough night for me. My pain doctor told me “sleep is always the last thing to recover” and so far he’s right about that. This is one case where I wish he wasn’t. But eventually morning arrived, and with it kids to be fed and other things to do.
A chunk of the morning went for homeschooling, of course. Kids are doing fine; the older two started on their fifth-grade spelling books today, Thomas is reading the story of Gilgamesh, Lindsey is working on addition and her reading is getting much more fluid. They all still have some tendency to stare off into space instead of concentrating on their work but with a teacher:student ratio of 1:2 they get encouraged pretty frequently.
I bounced back and forth among a lot of work bits for the rest of the day; I ended up contributing code or management to six different projects before all was said and done, and spent a couple of hours on sales as well (landed one contract, working up estimate for another). So it was a reasonably productive day.
Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow and things are shutting down in anticipation. Meanwhile the kids have discovered an online whether report and are happily anticipating, though Thomas was a bit taken aback when I explained that snow days were for kids who actually had to go out of the house to go to school.
Dinner tonight was teriyaki chicken drumsticks with mashed potatoes and corn and salad.
