Webelos
I got moving reasonably early today, and was almost immediately deep into coding – one of our clients suddenly wanted to do an executive demo this morning, and there were a bunch of loose ends to tie off. (Amusingly enough, after we’d worked for a few hours, the demo got postponed to Monday). The kids got somewhat lighter than usual schoolwork – not that they complained about this.
Later in the morning I took a couple of hours off to prep a big box full of science experiments. Then it was back to the code until dinnertime, which was a matter of feeding hot dogs and mac and cheese to the kids. After dinner, Dana went to karate, Adam and I went to the Webelos pack meeting, and the other kids went to play at the neighbors’.
The reason I went along to the meeting tonight was that I was the program – we worked on the “scientist” badge for the boys. I put together a box full of stuff and we played with putting pins in balloons, experimented with inertia and center of gravity, swung a bucket of stuff over our heads, and so on. Don’t know how much they learned, but everyone had a good time. But boy, every time I have to deal with a bunch of kids, I’m reminded how well-behaved ours actually are.
Came home, picked up the rest of the kids, got everyone to bed and worked for another hour or so before calling it a night.
