This and That
Today started off with another round of moving hard drives around. The backup from the old drive to the first of the new ones went OK, so I moved on to switching the second new one into the Mac Pro as a backup drive. Later on the remaining original drive went to the Drobo for more storage there. With luck that will be the last of the hardware issues for a while.
A lot of today went for open source projects. There was a big round of updates to do for my Rails template, and then some changes to make to another project or two. I still got some client work in, but a lot of today was a pay-it-back day. At least much of that coding is more fun than grinding through client sites.
I did spend quite a bit of time on project management. It’s time to get ramped up on two new projects, and I also took the time to do a systematic evaluation of how all of the current jobs are going. Overall, things are good, with just one or two trouble spots.
Dana was out much of today scrapbooking, though she did break from that to take Adam to his basketball class at the Y. Kids fortunately were pretty well-behaved. Kayla having a Mac in her room has changed the dynamics somewhat; the three younger kids are now frequently found up there, playing Toontown or making music, rather than watching TV.
For dinner, I made burgers, rice, and corn for the kids, with some salad and fruit for me. The evening passed fairly quietly, and I got back to exercising after the kids were in bed.
