Work and Nothing But
Today was all about the code. Between the amount of work I had on the plate, and the various running-around Dana had to do, we declared it a no-school day (except for Adam’s daily writing practice, which is tied to his allowance currently).
So, after breakfast, I was head-down with the code. We have a client doing an important demo tomorrow, and it was time to tie a bunch of pieces together. Between writing code and managing subcontractors, I put in a solid 12-hour day, but by 10PM or so I was sending off demo instructions and crossing fingers that it would all work.
There were a few breaks in there. One was for a phone call from the UK, which resulted in another signed contract. Another was to run out and do some grocery shopping, in the only schedule hole around lunch. I realized afterwards that I hadn’t actually eaten anything all day, but somehow managed to keep the purchases to a reasonable level anyhow.
Dinner was beef tips and rice and fruit for the kids – I took the easy way out with a meal I knew they would all enjoy. There was another break for me to read Oz to them at bedtime. When the dust cleared, I installed a replacement hard drive in the Mac Pro (so it would backup overnight) and went to bed.
