A Very Monday sort of Monday
The day started out with a normal amount of kid chaos and a fair amount of client Monday chaos as well (sometimes, our clients are not all that distinct from children). I got through my part of homeschooling by 11AM or so, and headed out the door for an actual lunch meeting.
Turns out there’s a local startup using Rails – who discovered me when they were in New York talking to the consultant they were hiring. So we had lunch today just to talk, without any current work but a vague promise of doing something together in the future. At least I got a somewhat decent sushi lunch out of the deal.
Got home just in time for a current client to announce that they wanted to make a major data change – by tomorrow morning. This set me to working on ugly data imports for most of the rest of the day, compounded by the fact that they’d not supplied what they promised in CSV files. Good times. All in all, it was a very Monday sort of Monday.
There was also another sales call in there, as well as feeding burgers and corn to the kids.
Bedtime story ended up being cut short by a sudden attack of severe laryngitis. Fortunately the kids thought this was very amusing in itself.
