Busy Morning
I got up 5:30ish, shortly followed by children. I knew it was going to be a busy morning, so we had abbreviated schoolwork, which was much appreciated. First thing when it got close to working hours was a visit from the local plumber to diagnose our non-softening water softener. The main problem proved to be a broken teflon seal, which looked like a 50-cent part. It proved to be a 50-dollar part, though, plus labor. Which was still better than buying a whole new water heater.
After that, I worked for a bit until Dana was awake, and then headed out to the grocery store. This time all four kids wanted to help, so I took them all along. They were very good in the store – occasionally a traffic hazard to other shoppers, but otherwise well-behaved.
The afternoon went for a discussion with one client and writing some more code. For dinner, I made some plank-grilled salmon along with potatoes and fruit. The plank grilling went fine, though I was pretty well cedar-flavored by the time it was done myself.
