Birthday Time
Lindsey woke me at 5:30 this morning. Today was Thomas’s 4th birthday, and when the family was all awake – earlier than usual – we had a great deal of fun watching him open presents. Then Dana and Lindsey fell asleep for naps, and everyone else started making sure the new toys were well played-with. I got some work done in the morning, but after lunch was pretty much all Thomas. First there was an actual birthday party involving a handful of neighborhood children and some watery toys in the back yard. Everyone had a good time, and that finally broke up around 5PM.
Then Thomas wanted to go out to dinner, so we headed off to the local buffet again. Our neighbor’s little girl came along with us, so it was a pretty full table, but they were all well-behaved. I overate, as I usually do at buffets. No self-control when faced with that many choices, especially things I don’t get at home like sushi and raw oysters.
Back home, there was a chaos of loud kids, leading up to bedtimes, stories, and a sleepover with a friend in Kayla’s room. Fortunately they were all worn out from the day and went to sleep relatively quickly.
