Grilling

Thomas got me up about 5AM. This was really too early for both of us – blame that darned sun. I spent the next couple of hours working, feeding kids, and making breakfasts. Dana took the older two off to zoo camp, and I spent the next couple of hours dividing my time between writing and assembling. In this case, the assembling was for a new charcoal grill. It went together easily enough, though it wouldn’t fit out the door I had planned to go through – fortunately there was a wider door with an alternate route.

Dana came home and then turned around and took the younger kids out for a playdate. I took advantage of being temporarily childless to take apart the kitchen faucet (hardware store didn’t have spare parts, but just cleaning the schumtz out seems to have stopped the leak for now), and ran out to buy some charcoal. Then I ran the grill through a few hours of curing and seasoning.

Everyone came home after zoo camp, tired and happy. Of course, I had to try the grill out – we had rib eye steaks, broccoli, and garlic bread for dinner.

After dinner, I put in some more coding time until it was time to get all the kids off to bed.
