Assembling Stuff

6AM came too quickly this morning. I wasn’t really ready to get up, but I knew the kids wouldn’t let me sleep. Sure enough, they started rising shortly after I did. We had a regular school day today – last week was instructional, but it was mostly about lemonade. This week we’re going to take some extra time to talk about China, what with all the news coverage recently. At least, the two older kids and I will. Thomas is still focused on learning to read, and making progress though he remains distractable.

The landscapers were back today, laying stone walls in the front and starting on the patio in back. So that project is moving along too. I spent another hour or two on the play structure (complete with one more trip to the hardware store to buy a bolt I’d been shorted) and it now has a roof.

I did get a bit of work done today, though not a whole heck of a lot. Fortunately part of that was chatting with a major client about the next step for them, and there’s plenty stacked up for the next few days, assuming I can find time to do it.

For dinner, I made corned beef, french fries, corn, and peaches. This went over amazingly well, and Lindsey had three helpings of everything but the corn. Had to open a second can of peaches for her.

After dinner, I ran the kids through the tub, spent some time assembling a weight bench – time to get back in shape – and then presided over the process of getting everyone to sleep.
