Play Structure

The kids and Dana were up at 6 again for the second round of the garage sale. Ultimately the kids made about six bucks each from their lemonade and donut stand – and that only because their parents bought back excess stock at wholesale prices. But it was a good learning experience for them. Dana got rid of some stuff and made a few bucks too. Meanwhile, I spent a good part of the day wrestling with assembly on the play structure. The project went about as well as such projects usually do – which is to say that the instructions were confusing and sometimes wrong, the order of assembly made no sense, and there were parts missing (alleged lock nuts with no nylon inserts). But I persevered, and with only two trips to the hardware store got the basic frame up, square, and solid, though not quite level yet.

On the programming front, I made scant progress today; I’m hung up because someone else didn’t finish the server setup he’d promised.

Dana and Thomas went out to dinner together tonight, to celebrate a step forward on the road to toilet training. The rest of us had pizza (except for Kayla, who requested fish sticks because she can’t abide meat on her pizza).

I spent part of the evening putting together yet another bookshelf. We’re running out of space for bookshelves, but not out of unshelved books.

Had a nice long soak in a hot tub to get the kinks out and then crashed.
