Gardening at Last

Today was a lovely sunny day, completely different from yesterday. One of our landscapers was over early, finishing his part of the job (and collecting his final payment). The bits he did look nice, but there’s still plenty of work to come. I managed to get outside a couple of times over the course of the day, in between teaching kids and writing words and code. I mowed the side yard (where our nearest neighbor abuts), and planted seeds and small plants in the vegetable garden out front. No idea what will do well here, and it’s a bit late to be getting started, but we should get at least some produce out of our front yard.

I also chatted with the other developers on my main client’s project and got a few more features put on my plate, so at last I have a backlog of work to carry me through the next few days.

Dana went out to a movie tonight. The kids had had a relatively bad day, but for some reason they started behaving well around dinnertime. We had hotdogs and mac and cheese and pineapple, and most of them came back for seconds. Then they watched a movie while I wrote more code.

After most of the kids were in bed, I spent 40 minutes or so (with Lindsey watching) lifting weights and working with the stationery bicycle. Then I had a shower, read a bit more Ruby, and went off to bed.
