Visiting Child
Early to bed, awake before 6AM. But at least it wasn’t a schoolday, so I was able to take it fairly easy this morning. Eventually the indolence got to me, and I dug into the next project on one of the sites that I maintain: putting together some help pages. And here I’d thought I’d left writing help files behind years ago. No experience is ever truly wasted when you’re a consultant.
Dana and Adam were off at karate by lunchtime, and I fed the rest of the little monsters and got back to work. When they got home, they had another child from karate class in tow, and the kids spent the rest of the afternoon playing together in various combinations.
For dinner I roasted a chicken plus a couple of extra drumsticks, and served it along with rice and broccoli. Our kids did fine, our guest refused to put even a single grain of rice in his mouth. Clearly raised with different dinnertime standards.
My migraine triggers appear to have eased a bit over the years; I’ve been cautiously experimenting, and at least tiny quantities of chocolate and parmesan cheese are not having the immediate bad effects that they used to. I’m still feeling very wary, though, as I’d not like to get back to daily bouts of pain.
At bedtime, our guest decided that he wanted to go home to mom, so I put ours to sleep and Dana called for mom to come get him. She showed up after a while and we headed up to bed after that ourselves.
