We Have Trees
Thomas woke me around 6AM and it was back to the job of feeding and teaching children. Fortunately our schoolwork was light again today; we did some more cooking and taste-testing to refine the kids’ lemonade recipe for the coming garage sale. And Thomas did a little reading: we read Hop on Pop together, with me doing most of the work and him filling in the words he could sound out. Our landscapers were busy little beavers again today, and all of the shrubs in front that Dana hated have now been ripped out. In their place we have some empty beds with compost tilled in (those will eventually be my raised beds). We also have five new trees – two maples and three oaks. A few years from now they should be pretty nice. And in the back we have some flowering shrubs around the side.
I took off in mid-morning to run a batch of errands and do the grocery shopping for the week. Back in time for lunch.
Work continued to move along today. I ended the month with about 10 fewer billable hours than I had hoped, but still plenty to cover the bills.
For dinner, we had burgers, rice, and mixed fruit, along with salads for the adults. Dana took the kids out for ice cream afterwards.
Got the brood to bed at the usual time and Lindsey – who hadn’t napped – fell asleep in mom’s lap. Then I stayed up long enough to do the end of the month invoicing and crashed.
