Mike's Journal

I was up with the sun this morning. Well, with the sun and the Lindsey, who was wide awake at 6AM. She was also a big congested, as were all the rest of the kids, so I declared a day off from school. They spent the day lounging and chasing each other around, of course. Meanwhile my plate was fairly full today. It being Monday, there was the usual ream of email to answer, and writing to be done which took up most of the morning. This was interrupted late in the morning when another potential landscaping contractor showed up to discuss the various bits of construction work that we want done. I spent a while walking him around the place and then we sat down at the kitchen table and looked at plans. Hopefully we’ll finish pulling together all the bids this week.

Dana was off to a doctor’s appointment after that, and I fed the kids and tried to get a bit of coding work done. The weather was actually decent this afternoon, so I mowed most of the lawn outside the fence. Have to keep the neighbors from getting up a lynch mob. Then I ran over to our mail drop and picked up the mail, which included an Airport Express to extend the reach of our wireless network. So then there was the setup time for that.

I cleaned out the accumulated leftovers for dinner.

After dinner, I finally got some decent worktime in and fixed bugs in a couple of projects, as well as helping Dana deploy a new version of her own code. There was some fussiness at bedtime but eventually all the kids were down and I took a bit of time off to relax and read.
